ABOUT
What You See Is Only the Surface
For me, art has always been a survival instinct before it was a profession, an emotional necessity shaped by hardship, resilience, and reflection. Today, it’s the way I build connection. Whether in the curvature of a steel sculpture or the vibrancy of a painted surface, my practice bridges disciplines to create immersive, emotionally charged experiences that invite both personal contemplation and collective resonance.
My work lives at the intersection of painting and sculpture, where form, color, and structure work together to explore the human condition. At first glance, the pieces may feel bright, balanced, even harmonious. But embedded within them, beneath saturated palettes or carefully weighted constructions, are layers of pain, loss, and complexity. Just as life isn’t flat, neither is my work. It’s layered, filtered, and sometimes disguised, mirroring a culture obsessed with perfection and appearances. Where the viewer is drawn depends entirely on how deep they’re willing to go.
"Lines can take you on a straight path. The curving lines are rivers that change, sinuous paths that you follow. Dots are instant moments in your life that are important and cast a shadow on the rest of your life. There are layers and layers of experience that make up who you are."
I grew up in the 1980s and the graffiti world was very strong. I was in a band and we used that in our band logo – the paintings I am doing right now…
the bright colours are there to attract you. The darker, shaded colours represent darker aspects of us; and grey and air brushing is where we live most of the time. It’s not always clear.
